This is such a happy image that I thought it would be a great one to use to share the most recent news from LESESNE. We are closing our shop, but many of our beautiful products will live on, and it will be just down the street! Our colorful Le Jacquard Francais linens (Kokeshi pictured here), handcrafted Van Dalen Design furniture and Middle Kingdom Porcelain will all find a new home at Ellington at 473 King Street. Oh, and a few of our fun paper lines like Carrot & Stick Press will also be there. I plan on being there several days a week beginning in August, so please stop in and say hello. (Ellington is located just across the street from Basil Restaurant and the William Aiken House.)

A New "Spanish Moss" Painting by Sally Bennett!
When Sally Bennett first arrived in the Lowcountry two years ago, her first impression was the draping Spanish moss she saw everywhere. In homage to that, she has created a series of paintings of the same name in beautifully different colorways. I truly love them all and would be hardpressed to choose a favorite, but this "Spanish Moss Aqua" is a big contender! Since Sally is temporarily in Macau, she has given us permission to offer her work at 25% off. Better hurry!

Look What Came in the Door This AM! Lucky Couple Had These Made by Van Dalen Design
If only I were a professional photographer! But, I just had to take a picture of these before they go out the door on Monday. Neal (Van Dalen Design) has really outdone himself on these side tables. And they look even better in person! Nice and heavy, but cool, cool, cool design. The customers wanted them to be different, but still look like they belonged together. The one with the drawer (on right) is for the wife and the other with open storage above and below is for her hubby. I am SO jealous!

Many of us have Moms who need and want absolutely nothing for Mother's Day. But none of us want to arrive on her doorstep empty-handed. Being a Mom myself, I always appreciate Le Jacquard Francais linens. A person just can't have enough tea towels, in my opinion. They're useful for everything from drying dishes to laying over a serving tray, and they look gorgeous to boot! Some of my customers even use the non-kitchen motif ones in their powder rooms. Breathe Soy Candles...Yum! And They're Made Locally!
I love carrying local products and these great candles from Breathe Soy Candles are some of my favorites! The actual "candlemaker" is Debbie Alfaro and let me tell you, she puts her heart into her work. She is a retired police officer (Mt. Pleasant) who was injured on a call a few years ago. While she was recuperating, she decided to pursue her longtime dream of making candles. Well, here we are. The scents are delicious, the candles burn cleanly and the jar is nice and simple. Great gift for MOM!

Love This Easter Display! Happy Easter Everyone!
Isn't this colorful and fun?! Good Housekeeping Magazine featured this recently, and I don't think you can get much more vibrant and happy. The daffodils naturally introduce the spring season, but the clay pots and eggs give the whole display its eye-catching appeal. Love it!
Retro Chic by Van Dalen Design
How could you ever find a piece of furniture that's both retro and contemporary? The only person I know who could pull this off is Neal Van Dalen (Van Dalen Design). This substantial sideboard has ample storage and super-cool lines. I wish you could see the sides of this piece because his attention to detail would blow you away. It's constructed of maple, and for a benchmade one-of-a-kind piece is an incredible value at $1600.00!

Great Colors Together! So Much Fun to Coordinate Gifts and Wrap!
First of all, I love vases by Middle Kingdom Porcelain! Everything they create is a vibrant color and an interesting shape. This vase is the "bamboo" vase. Doesn't it look fantastic with this wrapping paper?! I love it when customers come to the counter with everything coordinated, from notesets to vases and on to their wrapping. They never cease to inspire me. Sure makes gift giving (and receiving!) more fun, doesn't it?

Why Can't We Have These Hanging Baskets in Charleston?
If Fargo, ND can have such niceties as flowering baskets on their lamp posts, why in the world can't Charleston, SC?! Especially with its warm climate. Obviously, I am a huge proponent of flowers. They make an area so much more welcoming, not to mention beautiful. Shoot, we at LESESNE would even be willing to help water them, as I'm sure other store owners would. Here's to all the other cities around the country and world who have stepped up to the plate to make their cities memorable!
